The Kindle Oasis will be discontinued as Amazon says goodbye to page-turn buttons

Amazon is discontinuing the Kindle Oasis. The decision means there will no longer be any models of the ereader that feature physical buttons for turning pages. “When our existing Kindle Oasis inventory sells out online and in stores, we will not restock the device,” Amazon representative Devon Corvus told The Verge. “Today, all of our devices are touch-forward, which is convenient for our customers.”

The Oasis model debuted in 2016. Its lightweight, asymmetrical design for one-handed use stood out, but its high price tag kept most people from considering the product. If you’re not as comfortable with a touch interface for reading, there are still options on the market that offer page-turning via buttons. The Kobo Libra Color is one of our favorites.

Despite the Oasis turning out to be a mirage, the Kindle family isn’t getting any smaller. Amazon announced several upgrades to the device line this week, including its first color ereader in the Kindle Colorsoft. We also got a chance to work with the latest Kindle Scribe and the refreshed Kindle Paperwhite.

If you’re a Prime member, you can save $50 on the recently released Colorsoft Kindle, also known as the first Kindle with color. This is the first discount we’ve seen since this model debuted.

We encountered a “yellow band” problem with our review unit, but we later received an updated reader for which Amazon made “reasonable adjustments” to solve the problem. The software and display adjustments the company implemented worked — and we actually liked the overall effect better. Check out our review for the full story.

The Chipolo One Point came out shortly after Google launched its Find My Device feature, a crowd-sourced finding network that relies on other Android phones to track down your lost belongings (a bit like Apple’s Find My function). It’s currently our favorite Bluetooth tracker for Android.

We liked how easy it was to set up and how loud it rings. Plus, unlike AirTags, it has a hole, so it’s easy to attach the tracker to a key ring. Also available on Amazon. Chipolo is also selling a pack combining its wallet and two standard One trackers for $52.
